Jim Sterling is a game reviewer on YouTube who loves losing hundreds of thousands of subscribers and strapping weird masks to his face.[1] He is typically pro-consumer, calling out unethical practices by games publishers, but also regularly insults the consumers when they express interests he disapproves of. With him having been covered once on EFAP 50 and then again on EFAP 100, it has become sort of a yearly tradition to cover a Sterling video on an Anniversary episode.

EFAP covered a Jim Sterling video for the first time on EFAP 50, the one year anniversary stream, where they looked at his video from back when VR was getting popular about how VR would never succeed, now with the benefit of hindsight a few years later. VR in his opinion are "snake oil" and just a rehash of motion controls its not going to be that big in the future and it wouldn't make gaming any better. He predicted that VR would be just “be left to die quietly in the street” and that it would be too pricey, as the cheapest example at the time was $400, as if the price of new technology never goes down over time, and it would require a lot of space, since you are meant to move around, as if there are no VR games where you play sitting down. Jim smeared the entire Virtual Reality industry as "able-ist video games", as people with common physical ailments, such as being in a wheel chair, eye issues, or being too fat to move, might have trouble playing them and shouldn't even bother buying them. Marc the Cyborg later let EFAP know that he uses VR to experience things his disability would otherwise make it difficult to do. The HTC Vive in particular drew his ire; he called it "hideous," a "bulky sweat-box," and "excluding". He defended his peculiar statements by saying the "zealous VR cult" and the "evangelists" doesn't think about them enough.[1]
In Defense of Abby's Arms[]

Made another video covered on EFAP #100, Muscles of the Apocalypse, in which he claimed that fans don't like Abby because she's "unconventionally attractive" and are using the fact that she has ridiculously giant arms without the very specific diet needed to maintain them as a smokescreen. He also claimed her arms were perfectly normal while displaying a picture from earlier in the game before her arms were fully developed.
He found most normal comments against the muscular Abby (like "I don't like muscular woman" and "Those arm are normal, on a man"), but says that they are snooty and present them as pretensions with his "aristocrat persona". While making both Randy Savage noises and sexual noises.
Thinsk that "Gamers" see Abbys muscles as the most controversial part of the game and mark of downfall of games as a medium, but comments that she is really "non -troversial".
The "Gamers" see Abby being muscular is game creators erasing attractive women from games, but Jim sees that the replacements are also attractive women, so he doesn't understand the issue the "gamers" are having, other than they are sexist "white boy children" that can't find Abby "conventionally attractive" (might not consider the fact that people find Fat Gerald attractive).
People hate that Abby is "Reasonably muscular", even if they pretend that they don't hate her for something that surface level, they do. Jim knows, he sees wrestlers in regular and they are more muscular than Abby and people act like they have never seen muscles before and can't handle her "gains".
World has moved on next non-toversy and yet "white boys" are still angry about that muscular woman is in their favorite game franchise. Then immediately he says that people were hated her originally for killing "a suddenly beloved character Joel" and not see her perspective from the get-go.
Joel was a selfish shit-head that deserved to die and his death was just comeuppance. Its shocking to Jim that people don't think this is true, since everything about him is loathsome and even his love for his daughter is selfish and just selfishness. He cant understand why people mourn him like he was their own father.. Most altruistic thing he could have done is not care about his daughter. Mind you that years before he had called Joel "likable" character, but that was time before he had to defend Abby.
If you look up to Joel, you are type of person that would harass voice actresses for what characters they voice do. Those types of people are "abusively disconnected from reality". they should stop playing violent video games.
"Most" of the discourse is just about how Abby is not conventionally attractive. You don't even have to look very hard to see how it all comes down to her being muscular. First it was how she could not be well build and didn't acknowledge existence of muscular women outside their own "small minded views" and people changed their tune to being that omen cant get as muscular as she is even though her build is based on real life woman (who is probably using steroids and has unlimited axes to gym and healthy food, unlike Abby in post-apocalypse, where all of those are scarce).
Abby chi as muscular as she is because she is actively fighting and people didn't point things being unrealistic when women wore chain-mail bikinis and Rob Liefeld drew women, but now suddenly people are caring about realism. Everyone is suddenly expert on musculature and protean and diets, those nerds.
She is not even that muscular compared to men in the game. There are health pills in the game, but her muscles are less believable than game mechanics and fact that there are zombie mushrooms people? People are just stupid and hypocritical and think that black people were not around in the olden days. They are bunch of "Literal Wankers"
Even so, she has workout routine and she goes out to do stuff, so it makes sense that she is muscular, and she eats burritos (they have at least a "fully balanced diet" or enough one that they are eating "different stuff"), so she has food to bulk up and she has been specifically training for years to get revenge on Joel. Even if this wont 100% explain her muscles, its at least more explanation than most of games give for their characters "unrealistic body-types". And its video-game, so you should suspend you disbelief.
Cant decide if its just unrealistic game that should not be taken seriously or very realistic game that explain visually why Abby is so buff. Like he uses Abby's workout schedule as proof that she should be so muscular, but then when doctor says its not realistic he says its not supposed to be realistic and is just a background asset, so you should not pay attention to it. Only reason people are trying to use logic is because they are angry at the muscular woman, probably trying to scour the game for inconsistencies to back up their "laughable anger" in order to invalidate existence of fictional woman with their facts and logic.
These people interest in realism is "sudden". they think that women can only look and acct just in one way. They are just starved for wanking material and hate when women don't have big breast.
Where were these realistic people when Gears of War came with its big beefcake men came or when Borderlands came? Where were these people and why were they not complaining? Where were they when Mad Max had muscular people in post apocalypse?
He can't understand why people have problem with muscles in video game. Its never questioned when men have muscles, only when women. This is because men are internally biased towards muscular women.
Before, game were willing to overlook games shittyness just because "its just a game", but not with Last of Us 2. Sure, its not great one, but not bad.
Its pointless to argue to the "gamers" as Abby still exist, even if they try to prove that she is unrealistic, their idiot actions wont resurrect their "beloved Joel".
White people have experience in erasing black people from history as they wont let them be part of medieval fantasy stories.

In the end, there is no reason to debate the Last of Us 2 haters as their words have no merit. As person with no gender, his existence is being denied, so he knows and recognizes when people are trying to erase and take away human rights. People have the right to be different.
Draws connection of Abby being considered unrealistic for her muscles and trans-rights, believing that in both cases "White Men" are trying to deny and erase their existence. People are just crying for "forced Diversity" when there is just smidgen of diversity.
People are just scared of things that are different. and Joel was shit.
